  1. I really enjoy how you begin this essay, listing nouns and adjectives that describe or are associated with the symbol you chose to address as the prompt has asked-- the kite. It is a great idea to implement both associations-- one fir the childlike characteristics and the other for what this object truly symbolizes within the novel. It provides a great contrast, while presenting recurring themes within the novel, as this symbol is also a part of the title. Despite this creative idea I do think more complexity could have been addressed, as in what this symbol or object does as he unravels his past? What is the overall significance in the utilization of this object as a symbol within the novel?
The first point you address is fairly solid. You make a connection between the kite and what purpose it serves in relation to the brothers. In a way this kit still has a dual symbolism, as it is indeed an object that brings the brothers together, a share in childhood experiences and joyful moments. Yet, it has emphasis placed on it as a negative association grows upon it, resulting in the introduction of the guilt, the affirmation, the jealousy, etc, that willl continue throughout the novel.
